Helping a world leader in industrial automation fill two senior executive roles in one
A multi-billion dollar industrial automation firm with a global reputation for excellence had made the decision to centralize its procurement. To do so, the company needed a strategic Chief Procurement Officer capable of uniting diverse global sourcing operations. The recruitment team turned to EWS for help.
This was the ultimate big-picture role for an existing or aspiring CPO. It required someone from an industrial or manufacturing background with peerless international experience. They would need the vision to deliver a business-changing strategy, along with the profound influence to roll it out across a matrixed organisation at a salary package slightly below market rate.
We first needed to gauge how many candidates there were in the market capable of performing this challenging role. Our initial global talent map gave us a detailed breakdown of the procurement leaders and team structures across leading competitors.
We then drilled down into our map to isolate the top-calibre profiles and made our approaches. We devised a bespoke screening questionnaire to assess each candidate’s experience of leading large businesses through transformation. This led to our precision shortlist, from which our client selected 5 candidates for interview.
One of our candidates was such a strong match that they were hired for not one but two senior executive roles. With prior experience heading up Global Real Estate, the candidate was happy to combine this function with the procurement role. Our client was delighted to secure a truly exceptional executive and make substantial savings on recruiting costs in the process.
